Sidewalk and bus-stop division
The municipality clears about 410 km of sidewalks using staff and contractors. Outside designated Downtown Business Areas, owners and occupants must sand or salt adjacent sidewalks within 24 hours after observing ice, and after a public notice of substantial ice probability.
Sheltered bus stops are cleared by a contractor and the Chatham terminal by Public Works. Other stops are not municipally cleared. Park paths and walkways outside the stated road-allowance maintenance scope do not receive winter control.

Driveways and support
Owners and occupants keep driveways clear to the street, including ridges left by plows. The municipality says it lacks resources to return and clear those driveway ridges. Placing snow or ice on the road is prohibited.
Municipal crews do not provide senior or disability snow-removal services. Families, neighbours, community volunteers or private firms may be options, but the source does not promise their availability. Make arrangements before a storm.

Damage and unsafe snowbanks
Report a snowbank blocking corner sightlines at 519-360-1998 or ckinfo@chatham-kent.ca. Sod repairs usually wait until May and the seasonal workforce. A plow-damaged mailbox is replaced when equipment physically struck it, though not necessarily with an exact match.
A mailbox knocked down by snow pushed by equipment is not replaced under that rule. Keep the distinction when reporting. Phone snow concerns weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or use the online service request any time.
