Agricultural permission is a distinct category
An Agricultural Open Air Burn Permit is required for all agricultural open-air burns. It is not the Recreational Campfire Permit and is not the approved small-device exemption. The source gives the agricultural permit no fee.
The permit lasts one year, or 12 months. Follow the full Open Burn Bylaw throughout that period, rather than treating a year-long permit as unconditional permission to burn any material in any conditions.

Apply and wait for the issued permit
Download the application or collect it at a Municipal Service Centre. Submit by email to ckinfo@chatham-kent.ca, in person or by mail to Customer Service, 315 King Street West, PO Box 640, Chatham ON N7M 5K8.
Allow seven business days for processing. Mailed or counter applications receive the permit by mail, while email applications receive it by email. Keep the approved permit number available before arranging the burn.

Notify dispatch and respect safety decisions
Call Chatham-Kent Central Fire Dispatch at 519-352-1100 with the approved number before starting and after the fire is extinguished. These are operating notifications, separate from applying for the permit.
Fire and Rescue normally does not visit before issue, but an enforcement officer can stop activity judged unsafe. Other enforcement can follow non-compliance. Lack of an advance inspection does not certify the planned site or material as safe.
